Re: Online story by Rodrigo Rey Rosa
Wed, May 30, 2007 - 9:39 PMIt is marked as fiction, though with Rey Rosa it's hard to tell. He does set it as an interview inside narrative. The inference to the Goya piece is mentioned but I could find no actual bullfighter by the name on the net. Either way it is beautifully written. What did you think?
Of his eight books the currently translated are:
The Path Doubles Back (short stories)
Dust on Her Tongue (short stories)
The Begger’s Knife (short stories)
The Pelcari Project (novel)
The Good Cripple (novel)
Also he scripted and directed the film “The Proof”, and IMDB lists him writing and directing, “What Sebastian Dreamt”.
Alongside those of Mrabet and Choukri, the works of Rey Rosa stand as a testament to what a wonderful translator Paul Bowles was. Not only in translation, but also in the making aware of such vital works and authors to the English speaking world. The last novel mentioned, “The Good Cripple”, was translated by Esther Allen.
